Soccer in the Streets brings Atlanta kids together for day of play

Soccer in the Streets, Atlanta

Norfolk Southern and Soccer in the Streets brought kids and families together across Atlanta on May 2 for a youth soccer tournament at the Lindbergh StationSoccer™ location, building on a broader partnership to expand access, strengthen community, and create opportunity for young people through the power of play.

Why it matters

For many families, cost and transportation can limit access to safe places to play. Programs like Soccer in the Streets help remove those barriers and create opportunities for kids to grow on and off the field.

How we showed up

Across Atlanta, kids and families came together for a youth tournament that brought energy and excitement to communities across the city.

The day included:

  • Youth tournaments: Free soccer programming for kids under 14.
  • Skill-building moments: Activities focused on teamwork, confidence, and leadership.
  • Community connection: Families, volunteers, and partners coming together around the game.

The impact

For the kids who participated, the day was about more than competition. It was about having a place to belong.  From first-time players to returning participants, the tournaments created moments of confidence, connection, and joy that extend beyond the field.

What we’re saying

“We’re proud to partner with Soccer in the Streets to help expand access to safe, welcoming spaces where kids can play, learn, and build confidence,” said Emily Murray, Assistant Director of Creative and Brand at Norfolk Southern. “As an Atlanta-based company, supporting the neighborhoods we call home is core to who we are. This partnership helps removes barriers to play and creates meaningful opportunities for young people across the city.”

What’s next

The tournaments are just the beginning, with more events and programming planned throughout the year to continue expanding access and impact across Atlanta.
