Scott St. Clair Named to Railway Age's 2025 "Fast Trackers" 25 Under 40
Scott St. Clair, AVP Operations, has been recognized as one of Railway Age’s 2025 “Fast Trackers” 25 Under 40 honorees. This award highlights top railroad professionals under 40 for their leadership, industry contributions, and community impact.
“Scott’s operations expertise and strategic thinking make him an invaluable leader at NS,” said John Orr, Chief Operating Officer. “His insights and dedication strengthen our ability to serve customers and communities alike.”
Since joining Norfolk Southern in 2010 as a Management Trainee in Transportation, St. Clair has advanced through a diverse range of operations, strategy, and planning roles. His experience spans Strategic Planning, Service Design, Interline Services, Network Operations, and progressive leadership positions within Transportation.
Before assuming his current position, he served as Sr. Director of the Network Operations Center (NOC), where he played a pivotal role in enhancing safety and operational efficiency. While in the NOC, he led teams focused on safety procedures, technology development, program and line maintenance scheduling, reducing blocked crossings, leading the Need for Speed War Room, and driving asset productivity.
Beyond daily operations, Scott has been instrumental in tackling industry-wide challenges. While overseeing the CREATE program as Director of the CTCO, he worked with Class I railroads, passenger operators, and public partners. His involvement in Chicago’s (WA1) Ogden Junction project helped secure vital infrastructure funding through a $70 million dollar INFRA grant.
A graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, Scott earned an MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business while working full-time. Outside of work, he remains dedicated to service, supporting his former volunteer fire department through NS’ Good Government Fund.
He is also an active advocate for Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, an organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the Chattahoochee River and its watershed through advocacy, education, and community involvement. Additionally, along with his wife Rachel, he actively supports The Honor Foundation, an organization that assists Navy SEALs and other Special Operations Forces in transitioning to successful civilian careers by providing mentorship, education, and professional development resources.
