July 2026 Tariff Update

Norfolk Southern is adopting an update to our Industrial Products demurrage tariff effective July 1, 2026. For any questions regarding these updates, please contact your Norfolk Southern representative.

Effective July 1, 2026, Norfolk Southern (NS) will be making changes to the following tariffs:

• Demurrage Tariff 6004-D

Below is a brief description of the changes to the tariff.

• Item 950: High-value car provisions will be modified to exclusively apply to terminating demurrage; originating demurrage provisions for all empty cars will be applied at the standard rate
• Item 1010 (and applicable references): Update to all demurrage & storage rates contained within. The per-car daily charges will be as follows: 
  • Railroad-Controlled Cars (except as noted): increase from $210 to $220 
  • Covered Coil Cars, Centerbeam Flatcars, Mechanical Refrigerated Cars, Heavy-Duty Flatcars: increase from $350 to $365 
  • Cars held for purposes other than loading or unloading: increase from $140 to $145
  • Private Cars (storage application): increase from $110 to $115 
  • Assigned Cars (storage application): increase from $40 to $45
