Winter Storm Warning

Over the next 48–72 hours, Norfolk Southern is monitoring the upcoming winter storm forecasted to impact the southern and central regions of our rail network.

Current forecasts show winter precipitation beginning Thursday, January 9, along the western edge of the network and continuing to move east through the Mid-Atlantic and South by Saturday, January 11.

We are working to ensure the safety of our employees and mitigate workforce impacts. Additionally, we are pre-positioning equipment and resources to ensure a rapid response in affected areas.

Customers with shipments moving through the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic should prepare for the possibility of delays. We also encourage shippers to pick up units at destination from terminals in the affected areas in advance of severe conditions.
