Norfolk Southern continues to closely monitor possible work stoppages at several East Coast ports which could begin at 12:01AM EST on Wednesday, January 16.
We have adjusted our port curtailment schedule initially communicated on Service Alert 099 issued on Thursday, December 26. The attached document “Norfolk Southern Port Curtailment Schedule - January 2025 - Updated” provides the most recent ingate closure date and times for freight billed to potentially affected port destinations.
As a reminder, an inbound embargo on interline traffic destined to East Coast ports will also be implemented to further minimize impact of the potential work stoppage on our network.
We continue to work on alternative solutions to keep your freight moving, so we have again attached our current west coast port routings on the second attached document titled “International Lane Matrix Update 2024.11”. Please reach out to your NS Marketing Representative or email: autoandintlpricingrequests@nscorp.com for the most ideal alternate routings.
We strongly recommend that customers refrain from shipping hazardous, high-value, and refrigerated international shipments via rail to avoid unexpected delays upon reaching the port destinations outlined in the attached updated port curtailment schedule. However, if such shipments arrive at ingates before the closures, we will make every effort to ensure their delivery ahead of the work stoppages.
We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
We encourage drivers to take advantage of our ExpressNS+™ mobile application which streamlines gate and terminal processes for our drayage community. With ExpressNS+™, drivers can verify billing, submit pre-gate information, obtain parking and pickup locations, receive electronic interchange receipts, and submit bad order information. More information on ExpressNS+™ can be found by scanning the QR code below or by visiting www.nscorp.com/intermodal/ExpressNS.
